IT IS COMING!

Make sure to come to school Friday and find out about what is coming to Estes. The photograph above has to do with the big announcement. I will tell you there will be a special assembly that will include special guest appearances from some well known people.

Look at What is Happening in Ms. McCarty's Class.

Bravo to Mrs. McCarty's class for earning 15 silver trays and earning a special visitor! Zeus had special handlers in Audrey and Colton. Zeus had a great time learning how to read.

EGGciting Times!

Mrs. Crabtree's class took a scientific approach to coloring Easter eggs! They coated eggs with baking soda and food coloring and then dropped vinegar on them to create a chemical reaction. Take a look at their creations.

Do We Have the Next Picasso?

We had some student work on display during the OPS Fine Arts Festival and some of our students won awards for their pieces!
Braxton Neal placed third in the category of drawing!
Ashley Rosales placed first in the category of mixed media!
We are so proud  of all of our Estes students and the unique talents they bring to our school!

Help Our Bulldogs Reach the Top of the Mountain

It’s annual testing time again and we want every one of our students to do his/her very best.

Here are a few suggestions of things you, as a parent, can do to help your child succeed during

testing.

Make sure your child gets a good night’s rest – at least 8 hours – before each test day.

Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast the morning of each test either at home

or at school.

Ensure that your child is on time to school.

Schedule student appointments (doctors/dentist, etc.) that don’t conflict with the

testing periods.

Be positive. Encourage your child to take the test seriously and do his or her best.

Give words of encouragement as your child leaves for school each day.

After school, ask your child about his/her day of testing.
Try to keep the child’s stress level at home to a minimum.

Encourage your child to listen carefully to instructions and to ask questions if he/she

does not understand.

Creativity Gets Creative in Second Grade.

Take a look at what second grade is doing in Creativity class. Can you guess what they are working on? They used inches to feet, feet to yards. They worked on figuring perimeter and area of their objects. They then turned it into fractions. Teamwork and communication were part of this exercise.
