Valentine's Day Minute to Win It

The second grade played a game of Valentine's Day Minute to Win It. The students were given a piece of licorice to measure, then ate for 10 seconds and measured their remaining licorice. Then ate same piece for 10 more seconds. The student with the smallest piece won. Talk about fun and engaging-I wish I was part of this challenge!

Estes and Chick-Fil-A

This is from the ice cream party Ms. Coomes's class won for spirit night at Chick- Fil-A. The kids worked on writing a procedural text based on how to create ice cream. They also worked on solving real world problems based of the profit which Chick-Fil-A could make from selling their ice cream. The kids loved it ! The cow would like to say, "Eat more Chicken!"

Mrs. Jewell's Class and Timelines

In the pics below you see Mrs. Jewell's kids referring to articles and books to create timelines. They've been working on annotating the text and close reading in order to create their timelines. We like to see our students working so hard, and enjoying themselves.

The Power of Blubber

First grade has been learning about penguins and other Artic animals. They did an experiment to learn how they stay warm in such cold conditions. First, the students dipped their hand in ice water and recorded their observations. Then, they used what Artic animals use- blubber! The blubber kept their hands warm and dry. That’s how Artic animals survive.
