A Rocky Good Time

Here are some great pics of the 4th grade trip to Mammoth Cave. 
The kids learned about the layers of rock in the cave and the sandstone and limestone rock that makes up this cave. They leaned about this landform and how it actually used to be underwater!
The kids also learned how weathering and erosion created this "mammoth" size cave! The cave wasn't named because mammoths used to live in these caves, it was named for it's enormous size! The kids loved exploring and becoming geologists for a day!
